Companies have chance to get involved in UAE construction projects

Businesses working in the construction and infrastructure sectors have the opportunity to be involved in major projects in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The infrastructure and construction event in Wolverhampton next month aims to attract businesses to be involved Gulf Rail and Big 5 in 2019 and Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Organised by the West Midlands Chambers of Commerce, the event on Tuesday, October 2, will be attended by three main contractors that are seeking UK supply chain businesses, as well experts from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department for International Trade, UK Export Finance and the Construction Products Association.

Marion Doherty, international trade adviser at Black Country Chamber of Commerce, said: “There are huge opportunities in UAE and many exciting infrastructure projects being planned right now in areas such as health, education and leisure, and the time is right for UK companies to get involved.

“The contracts have been awarded and the prime contractors are looking for a UK supply chain for the many infrastructure and construction projects that will be developed

“This event will enable supply chain businesses to find out about European and other funding opportunities, which could be key for ambitious supply chain businesses that wish to play their part in the schemes.”

The contractors are seeking suppliers in a range of areas, from construction tools and technology to CCTV and fire fighting systems to carpet manufacturers, furniture suppliers and building interior and finishers.

Expo 2020 Dubai will host 128 countries and is expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors over six months. It will be the first time that Expo, which takes place every five years, will be held in in the Middle East.
