Watch: £200million transformation of former copper factory land in Walsall underway

Building work on a huge industrial unit to transform a former copper factory site in Walsall at a cost of almost £200 million is fully underway.

The 44-acre site off Reservoir Place in Pleck was previously known as Phoenix 10 and was once home to the old James Bridge Copper Works off Darlaston Road. Now work to develophuge new hi-tech industrial units at a cost of £188m is taking shape as the Express & Star drone footage shows.

A huge clean-up operation of gases and contaminants from its previous industrial uses although these are not harmful to anyone in the surrounding area. The clear up was carried out last year ahead of the building work which is due to be completed later this year.

Spark is being delivered by HBD in partnership with Walsall Council, Homes England, West Midlands Combined Authority and Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership wit the aim of creating up to 1,000 jobs.
