SWG Group revitalised a block of 30 apartments in Thorn Close, Wednesbury, and built a development of six new homes in Whitgreave Street, West Bromwich, on behalf of Sandwell Council - both of which have been shortlisted for awards.

The Thorn Close project, which involved a major upgrade of 28 apartments and the construction of two new apartments, has been nominated for the Residential Regeneration Project of the Year and the Social Impact Award in the Midlands Residential Property Awards, along with the Retrofit Award in the Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards.

Meanwhile, the Whitgreave Street project is shortlisted for the Small Residential Development of the Year in the Midlands Residential Property Awards.

Jacqui Gough, director of SWG Group, which has offices in Wolverhampton, said the firm was proud of its work in the West Midlands.

She added: “We opened our offices in Wolverhampton two years ago to help us manage an increasing number of projects in the West Midlands, and it’s great to now be nominated for awards for our work in the area.

“Both Thorn Close and Whitgreave Street had significant emphasis on sustainability and energy-efficiency, which we have specialist expertise in, so we are particularly pleased that judges have shortlisted these projects for awards.

“We would like to thank Sandwell Council for placing their trust in SWG to carry out these projects and we look forward to delivering more contracts across the West Midlands in the future.”

The new residential development in Whitgreave Street includes electric car charging facilities and solar PV panels with every home, providing eco-friendly living and reduced energy costs.

The project in Thorn Close has not only improved the quality of housing for residents but also enhanced the surrounding environment with new landscaping, garden roofs, modernised communal spaces and upgraded facilities.

SWG Group’s head offices are in Welshpool, with the firm carrying out construction projects across Mid Wales, Shropshire and the West Midlands from its base in Wolverhampton.
