The retail area between The Boulevard, Two Woods Lane and Mill Street, at present known as Merry Hill Phase 2 and 3, will be renamed Brierley Hill Retail Park following its acquisition by Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

The company purchased the 15-acre site, which includes Currys, The Range, DFS, Home Bargains and McDonalds, last year.

It covers 197,000 sq ft of floor space and 600 parking spaces. The rest of the Merry Hill complex, managed by Sovereign Centros, is unaffected by the change.

A planning application has been lodged with Dudley Council for six new signs bearing the new branding. The proposals will now be considered by the authority's planners.
