Black Country Chamber gives backing to food bank over festive period
Generous colleagues from the Black Country Chamber of Commerce have donated food and essential supplies to a local food bank supporting families in need over the Christmas period.
Events & project officer Marie Shuker and sales & business relationship manager Richard Hobbs visited the Black Country Foodbank in Brierley Hill on December 19 to hand over 11 bags of food and toiletries donated by the Chamber team.
These included tinned goods, boxes of cereal, long-life milk and pasta, as well as shower gel, soap and deodorant. Seasonal goods such as stuffing mix and mince pies were also included in response to the food bank’s Christmas appeal.
Black Country Chamber of Commerce CEO Sarah Moorhouse said: “The Black Country Chamber’s mission is to create the best community in which to live, work and do business.
“We are committed to making a positive impact across the Black Country, so it is vital that we play our part in supporting local communities and those in need.
“The services provided by the Black Country Foodbank have an enormous impact on the people who use them, giving them important breathing space at a challenging time.
“We are glad to join together with people and organisations across the Black Country to make a difference to the lives of those in crisis.”
The Black Country Foodbank helps vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food supplies while a longer-term solution is developed.
Black Country Foodbank CEO Jen Coleman added: “We are very grateful for this donation from the Black Country Chamber of Commerce as we always experience high demand at Christmas.
“The goods will help us on our mission to provide support to everyone who needs food and essential items during these difficult times. We see so much generosity and kindness at Christmas, which is fantastic.”
