Walsall safety sector specialist scores supply deal with Netherlands vacuum tech firm
A Walsall-based safety sector specialist is set to become the sole UK supplier for a leading Dutch wastewater systems firm.
Bescot headquartered BCS Group, which is part of civil engineering, infrastructure and tunnelling specialist Barhale, has been appointed the sole UK supplier of Qua-vac, the global leader in sustainable vacuum technology for wastewater systems.
The agreement with Netherlands company Qua-vac will see BCS Group supply the Dutch firm's full range of products across Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
BCS Group has also appointed Martin Tolson from CG Godfrey, one of the UK’s leading authorities on vacuum sewerage technology, to lead the project - bringing with him more than twenty years’ first-hand experience of working on the specification and installation of the vacuum waste technology.
James Mulchinock, Director at BCS Group, believes there is an excellent fit between BCS Group and Qua-vac.
“We are very pleased to have entered into agreement with Qua-vac,” he said.
“To build our position as a leading safety sector supplier, we want to offer solutions that offer something different and we are continually seeking to identify products that bring genuine innovation to the market.
“Drawing on knowledge of the water sector and the feedback on the system we received from our colleagues across the Barhale Group, it was clear that there was a strong strategic rationale to work with Qua-vac.
“We also strongly believe that there are wider opportunities for the technology’s deployment in situations beyond its traditional usages – and we will be looking to collaborate with specifiers such as architects and development consultants to explain its benefits.”
James Haddon, Director at Barhale, said that the company was already working with existing Qua-vac users Thames Water, Anglian Water and Severn Trent Water where its advantages are well-understood.
“Qua-vac can be deployed in situations where to install conventional sewerage systems would be difficult because of constraints such as a high water table, environmental sensitivity or because space is tight,” he said. “Unlike conventional gravity sewers, Qua-vac operates within an enclosed and leak-proof vacuum network so sewage cannot flow out and pollute surrounding areas and, because it can be installed at shallower depth, the system can reduce costs, time and carbon emissions.
“It offers a cost-effective, scalable solution suitable for installations ranging from just a handful to several hundred properties.
“While the system is well recognised by the larger water companies, it is increasingly drawing the interest of developers who are attracted by its flexibility, ease of installation and low carbon impact.”
“As a family-owned company with a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, we are thrilled to collaborate with BCS Group in expanding the reach of our vacuum sewage technology in the UK,” said Ivar Quatfass, CEO of Qua-vac.
“This partnership aligns perfectly with our vision of providing innovative, environmentally conscious solutions to areas where traditional systems may not be feasible. We are confident that, together with BCS Group, we will demonstrate the unique advantages of our technology, offering flexible, reliable, and eco-friendly sewage systems that meet the demands of the future.”
