Tipton food manufacturer acquired by multi-national firm for undisclosed amount

A Tipton based sauce and condiment maker has been acquired by international food and beverage firm Paulig.

Panesar Foods, which employs over 300 people from its Black Country base, will become part of Paulig after nearly 20 years of collaboration between the two companies as the Finnish firm looks to expand its world foods operation.

All of Panesar Foods current employees will be retained as part of the deal, Paulig confirmed in a statement announcing the sale.

Founded in 1992, Panesar Foods is a family-owned company with a turnover of more than £50 million in the 2023 financial year, offering over 750 cooking sauces and condiments and producing over 12,000 tonnes of products every year at its three production facilities.

Family-owned Helsinki food and beverage giant Paulig has 2,200 employees in 13 different countries and last year had a recorded turnover of over £1 billion.

The firm is a market leader in Tex Mex foods in Europe, and also present in other world food categories such as Asian, Indian and flavouring, where it has a strong position in the Nordic countries. With its products sold in 70 countries globally, Paulig has an extensive customer brand offering across multiple channels and strong expertise in concept creation and branded business.

Rolf Ladau, CEO of Paulig, said the acquisition would accelerate the firm's ongoing international growth programme, after they also completed an £8million salsa and sauce production facility in Estonia earlier this month.
