Green Duck Brewery in Stourbridge decided to invest during the lockdown in a major step in increasing its capacity.

Director Alex Hill said the four vessels that arrived last week had now been installed and were being pressed into action to meet expected growth in demand from pub customers across the West Midlands and beyond.

The brewery in a unit on Gainsborough Trading Estate, Rufford Road, originally started out with four tanks in 2012 and now has 12 much bigger ones.

“The four new vessels will enable us to increase our production by 50 per cent," said Mr Hill.

“We will be able to produce 50 brewing barrels a week."

Green Duck has yet to decide when to reopen its own Badelynge Bar.

“We are reviewing the guidelines from the Government and when we are happy we are able to do the right thing we will be letting our customers know,” he said.

Green Duck still has some staff on furlough and will look to bring them back as the brewing and pubs industry gradually revives.

In the meantime, the brewery is going to continue offering the home deliveries of cans and bottles of its ales that it started during lockdown.

“Hopefully now pubs can reopen on July 4 they will start to order beer from us,” added Alex.

Green Duck produces three core beers – blonde, American and session – as well as specials each month.
