Brum summit cancelled due to coronavirus
A major business summit that was due to feature bosses from the Midlands and China has been postponed due to the coronavirus.
The fifth annual UK-China Regional Leaders Summit was due to take place in Birmingham from February 17 to 19.
It has now been called off following government advice on the coronavirus outbreak, which has reached every region in China, killing at least 170 victims.
A spokesman for organisers at the Midlands Engine, said: "It is with deep regret that Midlands Engine and partners in the UK and China announce that the Fifth UK-China Regional Leaders Summit has been postponed.
"This decision has been taken following extensive discussions and consultation with government departments in the UK and China, in light of events unfolding with respect to the coronavirus.
"Our thoughts and sympathy are with close friends and valued colleagues in China who are affected by this. Discussions are underway to reschedule the Summit and we will issue further updates in due course."
