Micropub and shop plan for former Ironbridge jewellers
A former jeweller's shop in Ironbridge could be converted into a micro pub and beer shop under new plans.
A unit in High Street, which has been empty since August last year, is earmarked for the proposals.
It is thought the plans, if approved by Telford & Wrekin Council, will create four part-time jobs.
A report, which has been submitted to the council with the planning application, says the premises would not play music and would open between the hours of midday and 10pm.
It says: "The intention is for the back room of the micro pub to have a ‘snug’ feel, where customers can sit comfortably either alone or as part of a group.
"It will have a traditional feel with board games and books, and we intend to celebrate the history of the coracle with photos and memorabilia whilst also looking down on the last remaining coracle shed in the country.
"The Museum Library have already kindly agreed to provide us with some photographs and information for use in the pub."
It says the micro pub would offer 'high quality beer'.
The report continues: "The pub will offer four different real ales, one real cider, and eight draught craft ales and lagers all of which will be constantly rotating.
"Additionally, there will be a stock of approx 200 different bottled and canned craft ales and ciders for consumption both on and off premise.
"There are no similar places in Ironbridge, or indeed Telford, so we feel it would complement the current offerings and attract a new range of clientèle to Ironbridge.
"It will also utilise a long disused property which is currently detracting from the feel of Ironbridge and impacting businesses further up High Street."
The pub would have CCTV and create a pub watch scheme in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.
During the day, beer will also be sold from a shop at the premises.
A decision is due to be made by Telford & Wrekin Council in the coming months.
