Yesterday JCB announced it was to bring in 50 new jobs at its world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire.

Today, the company said it was looking for 20 new people to fill positions at its Rugeley plant.

The base in Riverside, called JCb Cab Systems, produces cabs to go on new diggers. Around 300 people are currently based at the site.

Company spokesman Nigel Chell said: "Cab production is increasing by around 20 per cent at JCb Cab Systems.

"As a result, we are currently recruiting for 20 positions, ranging from welders, assemblers and general operatives."

Mr Chell added: "We are selling more JCB machines across the world. The cabs are needed to fit the new machines.

"The business is going through a period of growth and in Rugeley we are needing more people to join us.

"This is obviously good for the local and wider economy."

In Rocester, the new jobs are needed as the firm launches a new product range for the construction industry.

It will begin making a line-up of site dumpers which are popular for moving loads around building sites.

They are seven tonne Hi-Viz dumpers, and were unveiled at the UKs Plantworx construction equipment exhibition in Leicestershire.

JCB chief executive Graeme Macdonald said: "This is good news for everyone in the industry and it’s good news for manufacturing in the UK and Staffordshire."

The company last month celebrated the work of 68 apprentices by unveiling a unique JCB at the Staffordshire County Show.

It was hoped the unique machine would help raise awareness about apprenticeship programmes on offer at JCB.
