British Airways back in Birmingham
The first British Airways flight out of Birmingham Airport for a decade takes off on Saturday evening.
The national carrier is launching a summer season of weekend flights to Mediterranean sunspots, starting with the inaugural flight to the Italian city of Florence, due to take off from Brimingham at 7.20pm on Saturday.
The other summer-only services that will operate every weekend are to the popular Spanish resorts of Malaga, Ibiza and Palma.
British Airways last flew from Birmingham in 2007 when the regional airline business was sold to Flybe.
Customers will travel on Embraer 190 jet aircraft with two abreast seating so everyone can have an aisle or window seat.
Each way fares, available to book on www.ba.com, start from £29 to Malaga, £35 to Ibiza, £35 to Palma and £47 to Florence
BA is also offering a series of package holiday deals to hotels at the three resorts including return flights from Birmingham.
