Man and teenager arrested as weapons and cash recovered by police in Birmingham

Two men, including a teenager, were arrested on suspicion of possession of weapons and money laundering after a car was stopped in Birmingham.

Armed officers from West Midlands Police were alerted to reports of a gun being seen in a car on June 1 and after tracking it down, brought it to a stop on Coventry Road.

A 23-year-old man was arrested next to the car, while a 16-year-old boy was arrested after a short foot chase, with a subsequent search of the car uncovering a Rambo knife, as well as a firearm and a large amount of cash.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a blade, and money laundering and remain in custody for questioning.

Rambo knife recovered

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man and a teenage boy have been arrested in Small Heath after our officers recovered a gun, a knife, and a large amount of cash.

"We were called to reports a gun had been seen in a car in the Small Heath area on June 1.

"Armed officers tracked it down, and brought it to a stop on Coventry Road last night just before 10pm.

"A 23-year-old man was detained next to the car, and a boy aged 16 was detained nearby following a short foot chase.

"A Rambo knife was recovered from the car, and during subsequent searches officers also recovered a large amount of cash and a firearm.

"The two currently remain in police custody and are being questioned on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a blade, and money laundering.
