The New Wellington in Brettle Lane was formerly known for its carvery, buffet breakfasts and real ale but has been shut for a number of years - in 2021 it suffered a fire in the kitchen which caused it to temporarily close.

It is now under new management who have posted on their Facebook page that the pub will re-open on July 11. The news was also relayed on the Stourbridge and Halesowen Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) page.

The post read: "We’ve been working hard behind the scenes here at the Welly, making sure that everything is up to standard and as we envisioned.

"Like with any renovation we ran behind as other jobs always crop up. Perfection takes time. We now have an official opening date for July 11 2025 which will be a day and evening not to be missed. We have so many things in store for you all.

"Look forward to seeing you all there to celebrate our new venture. Thank you everyone for your continued support. Rio and Lisa."

The news was welcomed by former customers and people who live in the Amblecote area.

Fleur Brandrick posted: "We can't wait for you to open, we are ready to book a table the minute the doors open."

Kate Butler said: "Good luck guys and looking forward to joining the celebrations."
