Jake Knight, aged 37 and of no fixed address, was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday, May 21.

At an earlier hearing at the same court last month he admitted sexual assault, two counts of assault a girl under 13 by touching and one of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The allegations against Knight were reported to police last year and Staffordshire Police's child protection team launched an investigation.

Knight was already on the Sex Offenders Register following previous offences.

Detective Sergeant Darren Mattocks, of Staffordshire Police's child protection team, said: “I would like to praise the bravery and courage of the victim in reporting the abuse they endured.

"We are committed to addressing all forms of abuse against children and strongly encourage anyone who suspects that a child is being sexually abused, or has been a victim themselves, regardless of when it occurred, to come forward.

"It is never too late to report a crime, and by doing so, you are helping us to bring these dangerous perpetrators to justice."
