West Midlands Police were contacted by several residents – worried about crime and anti-social behaviour at the Prime Shop.

Officers applied for, and were successful in being granted, a three-month closure order for the store on Fox Hollies Road.

It means anyone who goes in there risks being fined, arrested, and even sent to prison.

The order will last until midnight on August 13.

Inspector Jim Carroll, from Birmingham Police, said: “We received numerous complaints about this store, and we worked with partners including Trading Standards to take decisive action.

“This order will provide relief to the community and help serve as a deterrent to other convenience stores which may be involved in criminality.

“PC Green and PC Gavin, with the Acocks Green Neighbourhood Team, have been committed to securing this outcome for the community they serve – highlighting the importance of neighbourhood policing.”
