The arrests came as part of national Sceptre Week initiative which was set up to tackle ongoing issues with knife crime. The action resulted from patrols carried out by the Priority Crime Teams and neighbourhood officers.

In addition to the arrests the Tettenhall, Penn & Merry Hill neighbourhood policing team discovered a motorcycle which had been stolen from a neighbouring force while carrying out  a sweep in undergrowth in the Pendeford area.

West Midlands Police said no weapons were found during checks carried out at open spaces and parks with Low Hill, Bushbury & Fallings Park Police at Northwood Park, Bee Lane playing fields and Fowlers Park.

In addition last week almost 1455 children and staff at schools in the city were spoken to by officers about the risks of carrying a blade and the dangers of serious youth violence.

City centre police were out on patrols and carrying out weapon sweeps as well and also visited local retailers to give advice on the responsible sale of knives.

Wednesfield & Heath Town Police took some of their patrols down on to the canal network and conducted knife sweeps there.
