The University of Wolverhampton's Walsall Sports Campus hosted the Comic Con event which attracted thousands of fans eager to get up close and personal with their heroes.

Stall holders from across the country descended on Walsall for the Milton Keynes based Bolt Events Comic Con which attracted families from across the region.

Chris Oliver, from Bolt Events, said: "We have had a fantastic day. We have had over a thousand people easily through the door throughout the day.

"This is our biggest and best yet. We love this Walsall Sports Campus venue. We have made lots of smiles which is what it is all about."

He added: "We had a children's costume competition which was one of the best we've had in the whole country. There is no doubt the people of Walsall are about as enthusiastic as it gets for Comic Con."

One of the most popular attractions was The Black Country Ghostbusters who turned up with enough ecto-plasm traps to catch an entire graveyard.

Jay McDonald, from Stafford, said: "It took me until I was an adult before I could afford my own Ghostbusters uniform and Ghost catching trap. I still play with it on my own now.
