Beverley promised a night of joyous laughter, tears, singing and plenty of dancing as she takes the role of the iconic singer.

Between performances, we were given the opportunity to talk to Beverley about portraying Sister Rosetta, the response that Marie and Rosetta have received so far, and returning to her home city.

"How has the show been so far?"

"So far, it has been phenomenal. To set the scene, the audience down here [Kingston upon Thames] are quite reserved, they are used to thoughtfully listening along and clapping.

"I'm from Wolverhampton, so this is quite posh to me, but they have been on their feet, cheering, clapping and dancing. The response to the show so far has been amazing.

"It's so good to have an interactive audience, we actually encourage it on this show. The whole thing is about music, it's rooted in blues and gospel. This is what Sister Rosetta Tharpe did.
