Seven men arrested in connection with shooting in West Bromwich

Seven men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in West Bromwich earlier this month.

A vehicle was shot at in Trinity Way, West Bromwich, at around 11.35am on May 1.

A man in his 20s was treated at hospital for gunshot wounds to his shoulder and head. He has since been discharged.

Now, West Midlands Police has said that a total of seven arrests were made on Wednesday night (May 21) with suspects being detained in Smethwick and West Bromwich. 

  • Two men, aged 21 and 22, from West Bromwich, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

  • Two men aged 26 and 44, from West Bromwich, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place. 

  • Three men, aged 20, 21, and 22, from Birmingham, were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to supply class A drugs and assisting an offender.

When the arrests were made, officers also recovered a quantity of class A drugs.

The men remain in custody for questioning.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "A vehicle was shot at near the junction with Trinity Way at around 11.35am on 1 May. A man in his 20s received hospital treatment for gunshot wounds to his shoulder and head. He has since been discharged.

"Our enquiries are continuing and anyone with any information is asked to get in touch with us via 101 or Live Chat on our website, quoting log 1976 of May 1."
