Serita Tamber, of Cannock Road, Wolverhampton, pleaded guilty in January to stealing £482,000 from her friend between 2014 and 2024.

She was told to expect a custodial sentence for her fraud by false representation offence at her sentencing at Wolverhampton Crown Court in February.

However, the 50-year-old claimed to be too ill to cope with the sentencing but did ask the judge if she could fly to India on a family holiday before her enforced diet of porridge in jail.

The request was refused but she succeeded getting her sentencing hearing put back until March.
