Justice Mark Wall KC sent the jury out last Thursday afternoon (May 15) to deliberate the verdicts in the trial of Dale Francis, 37, and Daniel Tatters, 26. Both men were accused of the murder of Mr Singh, attempted murder of his father, mother and brother and arson concerning the fatal blaze on Plascom Road, East Park, on June 25 last year.
The judge gave the jury the option to find Francis, Clare Street, Basford, Stoke-on-Trent, and Tatters, of no fixed address, guilty of manslaughter concerning the death of Mr Singh, who died after suffering smoke inhalation and 50 per cent burns.
But today (Tuesday, May 20), Tatters and Francis, who acted as a driver and look-out at the scene, were both unanimously convicted of murder, arson with intent to endanger life and attempted murder on Tuesday after jurors deliberated for more than nine hours.
