Officers from a local policing team searched a caravan near Coven on Monday night (May 19) and found large amount of cocaine and cannabis as well as a samurai sword.

A separate search was then carried out at an address in Wolverhampton, leading to the discovery of more than £1,300 in cash and a block of what officers suspect is cocaine.

A 43-year-old man, from Wolverhampton, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Chief Inspector Al Lyford, from the south Staffordshire local policing team, said: “We’re working within local communities every single day to take action against those involved drug crime.

“More than 1,000 people have been arrested on suspicion of weapon and drug offences since we launched our crackdown on serious organised crime in May 2023. More will be coming, as we continue to target those involved.”

The action comes as part of Knife Crime Awareness Week, a nationwide campaign that raises awareness of the people and organisations working to prevent knife crime across the UK.

The Express & Star has also reported on the 10 most used West Midlands knife bins where deadly weapons have been handed in this year, as shocking figures showing how many weapons were surrendered via the bins between the months of January and March 2025 were released.
