Fire crews battling a blaze in Wolverhampton - avoid the area

Firefighters were called to a blaze at Ettingshall Road in Wolverhampton at around 2.05am on Tuesday morning.
The blaze involved a sheet metal fabrication premises on Webnor Industrial Estate at the Parkfield Road end of Ettingshall Road, with the unit backing onto the railway line.
Five crews from West Midlands Fire Service attended with 40 fire personnel at the scene at its height.

As well as five fire engines, they also a 4x4 brigade response vehicle and a hydraulic aerial platform.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally and damaged around 40 per cent of the building.
As of 8am, two crews from Brierley Hill and Walsall remain at the scene - a total of 10 firefighters.


A WMFS spokesperson said: "The fire is believed to have started, accidentally, in a mezzanine area. Around 40 per cent of that structure was damaged. The fire also broke through part of the roof. After bringing the fire under control, crews spent several hours damping down and checking for hotspots.
"Colleagues from the police, Network Rail, Environment Agency, local authority and utility companies were also in attendance or informed, due to the proximity of a railway line and other operational considerations."


An alert was issued on social media to avoid the area at around 3.15am this morning.
A spokesperson for WMFS said: “We have five crews in attendance at Ettinghsall Road, Wolverhampton, where they have responded to a fire. Please avoid the area where possible.
