Three arrests following Sandwell drug seizure

Three people have been detained after officers noticed suspicious activity near Smethwick High Street.

West Midlands Police have seized an amount of drugs and made three arrests after officers noticed suspicious activities around High Street, Smethwick

The arrests come after Smethwick's neighbourhood policing teams were patrolling in and around the high street area when they noticed a suspicious parked vehicle just after 8pm yesterday. 

Following searches, officers recovered more than 60 wraps of cannabis and detained two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, along with a 21-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We've seized drugs and made three arrests after swift work from officers on patrol in Smethwick.

"Our neighbourhood team were patrolling in and around the High Street when they spotted a suspicious parked vehicle at just after 8pm yesterday.

"Following searches, we recovered more than 60 wraps of cannabis and detained two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, along with a 21-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs." 

The three people remain in police custody for questioning. 

The spokesperson added: "Drugs not only ruin lives, but can fuel further crime.

"We're continuing to act on intelligence – and carry out targeted patrols - to combat crime and keep you safe."
