Lowest food hygiene ratings: The 26 food outlets in the Black Country and Staffordshire handed low hygiene ratings

Six zero rating food hygiene scores have been awarded to Black Country restaurants since March, with half of those residing in Wolverhampton.

All businesses are assessed by the Food Standards Agency and rated on a scale of one to five, with the ratings being based on their food handling, cleanliness and the condition of facilities and buildings and how they manage food safety.

Five is considered 'very good', four 'good', three 'generally satisfactory', two 'some improvement necessary', one 'major improvement necessary' and zero 'urgent improvement required'.

The grades help to give customers a snapshot of the hygiene standards of restaurants in their area.

Here are each region’s worst-rated restaurants since March 2025 – note: none of Stafford’s restaurants were awarded zero or one, with the lowest ratings around the region being two.
