Dudley's ever popular Black Country Living Museum is preparing to delight visitors this Saturday (May 17) when it unveils its newest historic acquisition, a star-struck 'gallopers' carousel built in 1895.

The 130-year-old carousel was originally built by Tidmans of Norwich and features 30 wooden horses and two chariots with bench seats.

If its old age isn't amazing enough, this particular carousel also had its time on the red carpet, having featured in Paddington 2, Call the Midwife, Rocketman and The Theory of Everything.

If you're wondering what a 'gallopers' is, unlike the American carousel, the gallopers revolved in a clockwise rotation, and at the time meant that ladies could ride side-saddle while facing towards the crowds.
