Six people rescued from fire at Stafford home

A total of six people were rescued by fire crews from a blaze at a Stafford home.

Firefighters were called to a property off Wharf Road in Gnosall at 8.20pm on Monday (May 12) following reports of a fire on the upper floor.

A total of 12 fire engines attended the scene. Fire crews wearing breathing equipment used three hose jets to extinguish the blaze.

They rescued six people from inside the house while neighbouring properties were also evacuated.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

A fire service spokesperson added: "An investigation into the cause is ongoing."
