Daniel Tatters told jurors at Wolverhampton Crown Court his co-accused Dale Francis, 37, took his phone and lighter from him when he sold him drugs in Stoke-on-Trent on the night of the fatal fire.
The two men are standing trial together accused of the murder of Akashdeep Singh, the attempted murder of his mother and brother and arson after the fatal fire on July 25 last year on Plascom Drive.

Tatters phone was tracked to East Park from Stoke and the lighter was found near the Plascom Drive property which police found his DNA on.
Taking the stand Tatters, 26, told jurors he had been out drinking with friends in Stoke-on-Trent on July 25 and saw Dale Francis near his home.
The pair "knew each other" and Tatters "got in his car to buy drugs," a short time after he realised the phone was still in Francis car.
