Man charged with assault and driving offences over Cannock Chase crash which left man and woman injured

A man has been charged with assault and dangerous driving following an incident in which a woman was left seriously injured in a collision and a man was assaulted.

Nicholas Braham has been charged with assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, assault by beating of an emergency worker, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and failing to co-operate with a preliminary test.

The charges come following the incident on Tuesday morning (May 13) on Marquis Drive, Cannock Chase, which saw two cars collide and a passerby assaulted.

The 41-year-old, of Wolverhampton, was due to appear at Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court on Thursday (May 15).

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "A man has been charged with a number of offences following a collision and an assault in Cannock Chase.

"Nicholas Braham, 41, of Wolverhampton, has been charged with assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, assault by beating of an emergency worker, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and failing to co-operate with a preliminary test.

"It comes after we responded to reports of a collision and an assault at Marquis Drive on Tuesday morning.

"A man, who was assaulted, was taken to hospital and was treated for his injuries which were not serious. 

"A man and a woman, who were inside one of the cars, were both assessed by ambulance crews at the scene. 

"The woman was taken to hospital and both of their injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time."
