The Walsall teaching assistant who is being investigated for sexually abusing 81 disabled children is being sentenced for his first sex convictions today at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The man, who could go down as one of the UK's most notorious monsters, befriended the boys on school trips away before he sexually abused them or made sickening videos with his innocent victims.

One of their parents said: "When I met him he was one of the few people who understood special needs. But he manipulated our family, he exploited my son's vulnerabilities. He sexually groomed my child and did wicked things I cannot even think of."

Another parent added: "My boy feels guilty for speaking up about what happened and how it effected his friends."

One parent paid the interloper £3,500 he was so impressed to his dedication out of school hours to his boy only to find out he was subjecting him to sickening abuse. He said: "I feel if I was paying him to abuse my child."

Today is the second part of the man's sentencing, which began last week but with a petition to keep his identity secret by West Midlands Police and challenged by the press, and several victim impact statements.

Justice Michael Chambers KC will be sentencing the man for  nine counts of sexual abuse of six boys between 2021 and 2024. He admitted touching six boys sexually and exposing them to pornography despite his victims being as young as 12.

Remanded in custody since his arrest last September when detectives found a disgusting haul of videos, including CCTV of schools he worked at, and mementos of the boys he'd abused including photos and gifts.

His identity will remain secret for the next six months at least to ensure the next trial will go ahead without prejudice.

The CPS confirmed the investigation is one of the biggest of its kind in the country with detectives quizzing 81 former victims, mostly disabled and with learning difficulties.
