Enquiries into Bilston house fires which left one man dead and four other people in hospital continue

Enquiries are continuing into two severe house fires in Bilston which left a man dead and resulted in four other people being taken to hospital.

The investigation by West Midlands Police and the West Midlands Fire Service has been ongoing since the fires on Saturday morning (May 10) at houses on Marbury Drive and nearby Lunt Place in Bilston.

A man in his 70s died in the fire at Marbury Drive while four people who had been at the house in Lunt Place were taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Police confirmed the investigation was still ongoing and was being carried out in liaison with the Black Country's coroner.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Enquiries into the fires in Lunt Place and Marbury Drive are continuing and we're liaising with the coroner."

Investigators and the technical support team based at Bickenhiil remain at the Bilston scene.
