Woman and teenager taken to hospital for smoke inhalation after Rowley Regis house fire

A woman and a teenager were taken to hospital for suspected smoke inhalation following a fire that raged through a house in Brickhouse Road, Rowley Regis.

The blaze was reported on Tuesday evening (May 13) and West Midlands Fire Service crews rushed to tackle the flames.

Now, West Midlands Ambulance Service have confirmed that a woman and a teenager were conveyed to hospital after being treated for possible smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called by fire colleagues to a property fire on Brickhouse Road in Rowley Regis at 6.38pm and sent two ambulances to the scene. 

"On arrival, crews found a woman and a teenager who were both treated for suspected smoke inhalation and conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital."

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that one person who lived in the property 'left before we arrived', later saying that the person was found uninjured.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: "Shortly after 6.10pm on Tuesday 13 May, we responded to Brickhouse Road, Rowley Regis.

"Three fire engines and a 4x4 brigade response vehicle attended, crewed by firefighters from Haden Cross, Oldbury and Dudley stations.

"Two people living in the neighbouring property received precautionary checks from paramedics at the scene. There was no fire spread to their home. One person who was inside the affected house at the time of the incident left before we arrived and was uninjured." 

New pictures have revealed the trail of destruction left by the blaze, with video footage from the scene showing smoke rising well above the neighbouring buildings.

Following the blaze, residents near the address told the Express & Star: "You could see the smoke pouring through the windows and doors; it was terrible.

"It looks like most of it was coming from downstairs. I think everyone was okay. I hope they're alright."
