Man arrested on suspicion of arson over Wednesbury house fire that left three people with severe injuries

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of arson following a serious house fire in Wednesbury.

Emergency services were called to the blaze that broke out at a house on Holyhead Road in Wednesbury in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 11).

A man and a woman in their 80s remain in a critical condition in hospital as well as a second man in his 50s.

Following police enquiries, a 53-year-old man has been arrested in Wales on suspicion of arson.

It was the third house fire that broke out over the weekend, following a double house fire in Bilston on Saturday in which a man aged in his 70s died.

There was another blaze in Kingswinford on Saturday evening and, most recently, a severe house fire in Rowley Regis on Tuesday evening.
