National Express West Midlands has announced that the 62 and 62A bus services will be diverted from today (May 14) until Monday, June 9 due to gas main renewal works on Lower Street by Cadent Gas.

The road will be closed between Grotto Lane and Sandy Lane and bus services towards Compton will go along Hordern Road and Aldersley Road, while services towards Wolverhampton will follow the reverse of the same route.

A spokesman for National Express West Midlands said: "Lower Street will be closed between Grotto Lane and Sandy Lane to facilitate gas main renewal works.

"Services 62 and 62A between Wednesday, May 14 and Monday, June 9 towards Compton will run along Hordern Road and Aldersley Road, while services towards Wolverhampton will follow the reverse of the same route."

A spokesman for Cadent Gas said: "Here at Cadent, we look after the gas pipes in your area.

"We make sure the pipes that bring the gas to your home keep you safe, warm and connected.

"We’re replacing the old pipes with new plastic ones which will mean that you’ll be ready for greener gas in the future.

"We’ll have to turn off your gas supply during some of our works and may need access to your home, but our teams on site will be on hand to let you know more information."
