A5 reopens following closure due to vehicle fire near Lichfield

A stretch of the A5 has reopened following a vehicle fire earlier this morning.

National Highways West Midlands has said that the A5, between the A461 (Muckley Corner) and the A5148, near the M6 Toll and Lichfield, has reopened following a vehicle fire earlier in the day. 

The incident was first reported by National Highways West Midlands at around 10.20am, with the group saying that the road had been closed while 'clear up' works took place.

During the closure, the group said: " The A5 remains closed between the A461 (Muckley Corner) and A5148 M6 Toll near Lichfield following a vehicle fire. 

"Clear-up works are now in progress. There are no significant delays in the area." 

The road has since reopened, with the group saying that 'no residual delays' remain in the area. 

The group said: "The A5 is now OPEN between the A461 (Muckley Corner) and A5148 M6 Toll near Lichfield following an earlier vehicle fire. 

"There are no residual delays in the area."

Emergency services have been approached for more information.
