Advance Healthcare (Pine Court) in Wednesfield, which was visited and inspected on February 5, was rated 'Requiring Improvement' by the CQC.

The service is registered to provide personal care to older people living in their own homes, but in the report, the CQC said the assessment had been made due to the regulator receiving "information of concern".

Upon visiting, inspectors found that the provider was in breach of the legal regulations relating to governance systems, while there were also issues around medicine and care plans.

The report read: "This assessment was in response to CQC receiving information of concern.

"The service is registered to provide personal care to older people living in their own homes.

"The provider’s governance systems were not effective in ensuring actions were taken to make improvements to the service.

"Medicines were not always managed effectively, and improvements were needed to the detail included in some care plans.

"However, staff were recruited safely and received training. They understood how to recognise the signs of abuse and prevent the spread of infection.

"Staff were kind and caring and promoted people’s independence. The service was responsive to people’s immediate needs and there were systems in place to ensure people had access to the service.

"The provider was in breach of the legal regulations relating to governance systems.

"We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment."

Advance Healthcare has been approached for comment.
