The sessions at the Golden Cue on Etruria Way in Bilston have been set up to provide opportunities for two diverse groups, with children in care and men aged 40 and older invited to take part.

Known as the Power Within Pro Edition sessions, the free sessions are being organised by Children in CueSports CIC and will provide young people in NEET, care experienced and children in care aged 16 and older with snooker and pool sessions with expert coach, with the first session starting on May 22 and running each Thursday.

As an incentive to keep attending the sessions, anyone who completes six sessions will be given a free snooker cue, free membership for 12 months to the Golden Cue and a free 12-month bus pass for buses across the West Midlands network.

Youngsters will be able to learn all the skills for playing snooker

The same sessions are being offered to men aged 40 and over as a way of tackling social isolation, with World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) snooker coach Bobby Singh, who runs Children in CueSports CIC, saying the sessions were a great way to learn new skills and bring people together.

He said: "The projects came about to build stronger communities through snooker and pool.

"Giving people access to existing community assets like clubs amd organisations that they previously did not have access to or didn't know existed.

The sessions are designed to help young and old to enjoy snooker

"It's a fantastic opportunity to learn a new sport and once the project ends, their journey continues with a year's free membership to the Midlands' largest snooker and pool venue and a free snooker cue, case and chalk and free bus travel anywhere in the West Midlands."
