Lamine Sbai, 35, from Brierley Hill, has been charged with driving offences after an incident that closed the M6 near Stafford for a period of time.

The charge comes after Staffordshire Police's RCT officers responded to reports of a stationary vehicle in lane one of the northbound carriageway of the M6, near junction 13, at around 12.20am on Monday (May 12).

Officers attended to assist National Highways West Midlands teams with the vehicle.

Sbai was arrested after the driver became "aggressive", resulting in the temporary holding of traffic on the motorway.

Sbai was subsequently charged with failing to co-operate with a preliminary test, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and being a learner driver driving a vehicle on a motorway.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "It comes after officers from our road crime team went to reports of a car in lane one of the northbound carriageway near junction 13 at 12.20am yesterday.

"Colleagues from National Highways were also in attendance."

Sbai has since been bailed to appear at Cannock Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 10.
