Car and van collision at busy Great Barr junction causes standstill traffic

Motorists faced heavy delays this morning (Tuesday, May 13) at the Scott Arms junction of the A34 and A4041 in Great Barr following a collision between a car and a van.
Emergency services were called to Newton Road at 8.55am on Tuesday.
Two ambulances responded to the scene and assessed two people.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the police to reports of a two vehicle RTC on Newton Road, Great Barr at 8.55am this morning.
"Two ambulances responded to the scene and arrived to find a car and a van which had been involved in a collision. Two occupants were assessed by ambulance staff. One was discharged on scene and one was conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for further checks."
The collision on the A34 southbound resulted in one lane being closed, affecting the traffic crossing the junction on the A4041 westbound.
West Midlands Roads advised drivers to allow extra time for their journey.
