10 fire crews battle battery blaze at Ecobat recycling facility in Darlaston
Firefighters have been tackling a fire involving batteries at a recycling facility on an industrial park.

The West Midlands Fire Service was alerted to the fire at Ecobat in the Crescent Works Industrial Park off Willenhall Road, Darlaston, shortly before 3.30am on Tuesday (May 13).
Eight crews initially attended, but as of 6.15am, 10 fire engines and a 4×4 brigade response vehicle were at the scene.
By 10am the fire service presence had been scaled down, with three fire engines and the 4x4 remaining on the scene to ensure no hotspots remained.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "This is a fire affecting several pallets at a recycling facility in an industrial park.

"Good progress continues to be made at this incident. Nearby hydrants are supplying water. We are expected to remain at this incident for some time, working to extinguish the fire fully.

"There have been no casualties or injuries at this incident."

A later statement said: "The affected unit in the industrial park contained a large quantity of mixed-use batteries. Our fire investigators believe this fire started accidentally."
