Two arrests after drugs, cash and imitation firearm recovered in Dudley

Two men were arrested after drugs, cash and an imitation firearm were found in a car by police.

Officers from West Midlands Police responded to reports of a man in possession of a firearm in the Dudley area on Wednesday afternoon.

Firearms officers followed a suspicious vehicle and stopped it on Gibbs Road in Lye where, after a search, they discovered cocaine, cash and an air gun, while a knuckle duster and cannabis were found during a related search.

Two men, aged 23 and 35 were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and possession of drugs and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Two men have been arrested after we recovered drugs, cash and an imitation firearm from a car in Dudley.

"At around 2pm yesterday, we received a report from a member of the public that a man was in possession of a firearm.

"Our firearms officers quickly responded and followed a suspicious vehicle which was stopped on Gibbs Road in Lye.

"Inside, we found cocaine, cash and an air gun. We also found a knuckle duster and cannabis during a related search.

"Two men, aged 23 and 35 were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and possession of drugs.

"They have both been bailed pending further enquiries."
