The collision happened on the M5 northbound carriageway between junction 3 for Halesowen and junction 2 for Oldbury at around 12.30pm on Thursday.

It saw traffic stopped and officers from National Highways called to the scene to assist with making the vehicles involved safe and unblocking the road.

A message on social media from National Highways at 12.35pm said: "Traffic stopped on the M5 northbound between junction 3 for Halesowen and junction 2 for Oldbury due to a collision.

"One of our patrols is en-route to the scene. Please do not block the hard shoulder as this will prevent them getting to the scene and clearing it."

A further update 10 minutes later said that two lanes were closed and confirmed a delay of up to 30 minutes and three miles of congestion, but the road was confirmed as cleared and traffic beginning to run again at 1.27pm.

A message on social media from National Highways said: "All lanes are now open following the earlier collision.

"There are 30 minute delays and three miles of congestion remain, but this should start to ease now."
