A Halesowen dangerous driver who walked free from court despite leading the police on a 100-mile police chase is behind bars after forging doctors' notes to get out of community service.

Bobby Virdeee, 25, was admonished by Justice Michael Chambers KC at Wolverhampton Crown Court for squandering his freedom through dishonestly trying to avoid what was a lenient punishment.

Virdee, of Merrivale Road, Halesowen, was originally sentenced in December for dangerous driving after being pursued his his BMW by three forces from Wigan to Dudley on January 2, 2023.

Prosecuting, Robert Cowley said: "The defendant was pursued by the police at high speed from Wigan through Cheshire until the border of the West Mercia Force.

"He was later seen on the A54 where he avoided a stinger, mounted the pavement, knocked over several road signs, and though it was not included in the offence arguably drove at two police officers trying to deploy another stinger."
