James Tranter, aged 21, was stopped and searched by officers in Hednesford on April 16 last year at around 1.30pm.

They found two mobile phones and £260 in cash, and a bag of heroin which had been hidden in his underwear.

He was released under investigation.

A few weeks later on July 9, officers searched Tranter again after they saw him acting suspiciously on grassland between Muldoon Close and Cleveland Drive in Cannock.

Officers found a large amount of crack cocaine in a bush nearby and Tranter was arrested.

When officers later searched his home address they found cash, mobile phones and cannabis.

Tranter has since been sentenced to three-years-and-two-months in prison at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday (April 30) after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis at an earlier hearing.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Through Operation Target, we are committed to proactively and relentlessly targeting groups and individuals responsible for high-harm crimes, including county lines drug distribution, illegal firearms activity, modern slavery, and cyber-crime in our county.
