The teenager was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the collision between a white Honda 125 motorbike and a white BMW X5 car in Redditch, Worcestershire, on Sunday morning, but died of his injuries, West Mercia Police said.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident – a 50-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, and an 18-year-old man on suspicion of aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the injured boy is reported to have been on the motorcycle. The driver of the car was not injured.
The youngster was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for treatment after the crash, which happened in Studley Road at the junction with Howard Road on the Park Farm Industrial Estate at around 11.35am.
Detective Sergeant Liam Bennett, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We’re in the early stages of our investigation and are working hard to understand what happened yesterday.
“We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or may have dashcam footage of either the collision itself or the motorbike or car in the minutes before the collision.
“The motorbike had three people on, which is unusual, so I hope this will help to jog people’s memories.”
