Amy Pugh from Stafford Road, Wolverhampton denies murdering Kyle Pugh at her former home on Aston Drive in Newport on March 22, 2022.
Stafford Crown Court had previously heard how 34-year-old Pugh is alleged to have killed husband Kyle after a fight in the kitchen.
The 30-year-old died as a result of compression injuries to his neck.
The court had heard that the couple were separated, and had previously been in a ‘volatile’ and ‘turbulent’ relationship, described by some as ‘toxic’.
In concluding his opening for the prosecution, Mr James Evans KC told the jury that Pugh gave her version of events in four police interviews after calling 999 following what she described as the discovery of Pugh's body.
