Nigel Farage was the headliner of a Reform rally on Wednesday evening (April 30) at the Staffordshire County Showgrounds in Stafford, with the Clacton MP saying that he wanted to end the local election campaign in the heartland of England.

Speaking to hundreds of Reform supporters and candidates, Mr Farage said he felt confident of the party doing well, with candidates standing for seats across the county.

He said that success would be measured by votes and seats, criticised spending at Staffordshire County Council and set out two big priorities for anyone elected as a Reform councillor.

He said: "Doing well in Staffordshire will include having a big vote share and, as for seats, you can just spin a coin as it's very difficult to tell, but I am confident that we're going to win a number of seats.

"For anyone who wins, there are two big priorities, with the first being the way in which Staffordshire County Council spend money, with alarming sums of money being spent on agency workers in the last term and too much money spent on consultants.
