Man in 'critical' condition in hospital after stabbing in Cannock

A man is in a 'critical condition' in hospital following a stabbing in Cannock.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of Hampton Street, Cannock, at 11.27pm on Tuesday (April 29), to reports of a stabbing incident on the road. 

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

On arrival, the crews discovered one patient, a man, who was found to be in a serious condition. He suffered an injury to his neck. 

The ambulance staff administered advanced life support before transporting him to hospital for further care, where he remains in a critical condition.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing on Hampton Street, Cannock at 11.27pm, two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"On arrival, we discovered one patient, a man. He was found to be in a serious condition and ambulance staff administered advanced life support before transporting the patient to hospital for further care."

A cordon was put into place by police, with cars being diverted from the road. The cordon was lifted at around 1pm on Wednesday.

Inspector Lee Walker, from the Cannock local policing team, said: “Detectives have been trawling CCTV and speaking to people in the area to find out more about what happened to the man.

“We understand the man was spotted outside One Stop on Longford Road shortly before he suffered the injury and a cordon has been put in place while initial enquiries continue in the area.

“We are keeping an open mind and we’re keen to speak to people who might be able to help.”
