'Emergency services-led incident' causes major disruption in Birmingham

Major disruption has been reported following an emergency services-led incident in Erdington.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of Summer Road, Erdington, following reports of an incident on the road at around 10.51am.

Heavy disruption has been reported due to the incident, with roads watchdog group, West Midlands Roads, urging travellers to 'plan ahead'.

The groups said: "Summer Road, Erdington. Emergency incident Road blocked. Diversion in place. 

"Plan Ahead: Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where possible."

Bus services have also been diverted due to the incident, with the National Express West Midlands services 28 and 96 being diverted. 

A National Express West Midlands: "Due to an emergency service led incident at Summer Road, Erdington, services 28 and 96 will be diverted via: Station Road and Edward Road. No service along Summer Road. We apologise for any disruption to your journey."

It is unknown yet as to the severity of the incident, however, emergency services have been approached for comment.
